Three walls built around one safety mantra
The DEN9 wellness center is where people go to decompress, and where they arrive when they need care. Three separate murals, roughly 322 square feet in total across a double-sided glass wall, the wall behind the counter and the entrance to the office, all painted around a room in daily use in August 2026.
The site's EPIC safety mantra became the spine of the whole scheme rather than a slogan hung on top of it.
The glass wall
The hero piece, and the clearest visual thinking illustration we have painted. The four EPIC words run across the top of the panels with the artwork reading beneath each one: a ram herd climbing as one for Engagement, intertwined aspens sharing a single root system for Partnership, a switchback trail up to the treeline for Instruction, and a trout for Care, because a trout rises only in safe water the way people seek care only where they trust it. A sunrise across the center ties the four together. The unpainted face is backed in white vinyl, which evens the light and keeps that side clean and calm.
Behind the counter
Geometry centered on the dodecahedron, with each composition built so its path, water or treeline carries the eye into the distance and opens the room up. 78 square feet.
The entrance
The Platonic solids worked across the wall as a kaleidoscope, so the landscape breaks and reassembles as you move past it. The imagery is about care and recovery: weathered clouds, because problems arrive in many shapes and move on, a stream for impermanence, a ram herd recovering together, and trees growing straight out of rock. 138 square feet.
Palette and register
Muted and professional rather than decorative, drawn from the Rockies at dawn and dusk: deep indigo and slate blue, warm sunset gold and amber, sage and pine, the soft silver of aspen, with a note of the bright green already used in the room's existing graphics. Cool blues settle the nervous system, the warm golds add comfort, and contrast is held deliberately low so nothing in the room overstimulates. Biophilic design doing real work rather than a theme.
The staff painted part of it
Wellness center staff were around and curious throughout, so several of them painted a shape or a leaf into the finished walls. A small thing, and it changes how a room gets owned.
